Speaker A:

Welcome in.

Speaker A:

Everybody ready to dive into the life of Reverend Terry, a Christian?

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

Should be fascinating.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

We've got a really interesting mix of stuff to work with here.

Speaker A:

Blog posts, marketing materials for his book, and even testimonials from people he's impacted.

Speaker B:

It's always amazing to see how one person's story can be so inspirational.

Speaker A:

Definitely.

Speaker A:

So, you know, to start, Carrie wasn't always irreverent.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker A:

He was actually a successful motivational speaker.

Speaker A:

Had it all, you know, million dollar house, the whole nine yards.

Speaker B:

Living the Dr.

Speaker B:

As they say.

Speaker B:

But it sounds like something was missing.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

He talks about feeling this pull, like a nagging sense that there was something more.

Speaker B:

It makes you think, doesn't it?

Speaker B:

Even when you achieve what most people consider success, it's still possible to feel like there's a deeper purpose out there, for sure.

Speaker A:

And for Terry, that deeper purpose became clear when he had this, well, pretty intense near death experience at 23.

Speaker B:

Oh, wow.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

He says he heard a voice saying, one day you'll speak for me.

Speaker B:

That's incredible.

Speaker B:

You can only imagine how powerful an experience like that must have been.

Speaker A:

You know, almost like a direct call to ministry.

Speaker A:

And that's exactly what he did.

Speaker A:

He just dropped everything, basically sold everything, embraced this simpler life and devoted himself to God's will.

Speaker B:

Such a stark contrast to his previous life.

Speaker B:

Kind of makes his commitment even more powerful.

Speaker B:

You know what I mean?

Speaker A:

Totally.

Speaker A:

And that faith was truly put to the test.

Speaker A:

In his blog, he actually compares his life to the story of Job in the Bible.

Speaker B:

Really?

Speaker B:

I can see why.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

First he suffered this terrible back injury that left him unable to walk for 18 months.

Speaker B:

Wow, 18 months.

Speaker B:

That must have been incredibly difficult, both physically and emotionally.

Speaker A:

Absolutely.

Speaker A:

But that was just the beginning.

Speaker A:

Then his marriage fell apart, and if that wasn't enough, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer.

Speaker B:

It's like one thing after another.

Speaker B:

You have to wonder how someone keeps going through all that.

Speaker A:

That's the thing about Terri, though.

Speaker A:

He never lost his faith.

Speaker A:

He writes about feeling anger and sadness, loneliness even.

Speaker A:

But he never doubted God's plan.

Speaker B:

He even writes, job went through so much pain and suffering, and yet he remained faithful to God.

Speaker B:

I knew I could, too.

Speaker B:

Powerful stuff.

Speaker A:

It really is.

Speaker A:

Finding that strength amidst so much hardship.

Speaker A:

It's inspiring.

Speaker A:

And that faith, well, it led him to make a pretty unconventional choice when it came to treating his cancer.

Speaker B:

You mean his decision to forego traditional medical treatment and seek divine healing?

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

It was a bold move.

Speaker A:

A true testament to how deeply he believed.

Speaker B:

It really makes you Think about the power of belief and the role it can play in our lives.

Speaker A:

He created what he calls the Life Walk.

Speaker B:

The Life Walk?

Speaker B:

What's that?

Speaker A:

So he decided to walk a mile for each year of his life on Negril beach in Jamaica.

Speaker B:

Wow, that's quite a walk.

Speaker A:

And during this walk, he fasted, prayed, and just reflected on the words of Jesus.

Speaker B:

It sounds like an incredibly intense physical, emotional and spiritual journey all in one.

Speaker A:

Absolutely.

Speaker A:

And get this.

Speaker A:

After the Life Walk, his doctors declared him cancer free.

Speaker B:

You know, we're not here to debate the medical specifics, but you can't deny the role his faith played in his recovery.

Speaker A:

He attributes his healing directly to that faith and to the words of Jesus specifically.

Speaker A:

Your faith has made you whole.

Speaker B:

A powerful testament to the connection between mind, body and spirit.

Speaker A:

And this whole experience became a turning point for Terry.

Speaker A:

It led him to write a book, but not just any book.

Speaker A:

He felt a calling to share the words of Jesus and nothing else, just.

Speaker B:

The words of Jesus.

Speaker B:

Interesting.

Speaker A:

That's what he felt called to do, Present them without interpretation, without any commentary, straight from the source.

Speaker B:

That's a pretty radical concept, especially in the world of religious texts where there's so much emphasis on analysis and debate.

Speaker A:

It's almost like he wanted to cut through all the noise, you know, to get to the heart of Jesus message.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

It's like he's saying, why are we arguing about whose interpretation is right, when we could just be listening to Jesus himself?

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

And you know, he really takes issue with all the denominational divides in Christianity.

Speaker B:

He does?

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

He's very clear about that.

Speaker A:

He says denominations are man made.

Speaker A:

Jesus didn't create Methodists, Baptists or Catholics.

Speaker A:

He simply said, follow me.

Speaker B:

Hmm.

Speaker B:

That's a pretty powerful statement.

Speaker B:

It really challenges us to think about what's truly important, doesn't it?

Speaker A:

It does.

Speaker A:

Are we focused on following Jesus or on defending our specific brand of Christianity?

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

And that's where his book, what Did Jesus the Seven Messages from the Master comes in.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

This book was a 12 year project for him.

Speaker B:

Wow.

Speaker B:

12 years.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

He meticulously compiled all the words of Jesus from the four Gospels without any additions or interpretations, just the red letter words, as some people call them.

Speaker B:

That must have been an incredible undertaking.

Speaker A:

It was.

Speaker A:

And it was clearly a very personal and spiritual journey for him.

Speaker B:

And what kind of impact has the book had?

Speaker A:

Well, we have all these testimonials and they're really moving people from all walks of life, different denominations, even people who weren't particularly religious.

Speaker A:

They talk about how this book really touched them.

Speaker B:

What do they say specifically?

Speaker A:

Well, one person said it was like I was hearing Jesus speak directly to me for the first time.

Speaker B:

I can see how that would be powerful, removing all the layers of interpretation and just hearing the words themselves.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

And another person said they've always struggled with the complexities of faith, but this book made it simple.

Speaker A:

Just Jesus speaking to their heart.

Speaker B:

So beautiful.

Speaker B:

It sounds like Terry's really achieved something special with this book.

Speaker A:

He has.

Speaker A:

By just presenting the words of Jesus, he allows every reader to connect with them in their own way.

Speaker A:

He's not telling you what to think.

Speaker A:

He's letting the Holy Spirit do the work.

Speaker B:

And that can be so powerful.

Speaker A:

It is.

Speaker A:

And in a way, it creates this space for unity where people from different backgrounds and beliefs can come together around the teachings of Jesus.

Speaker B:

It's almost like he's built a bridge across all those denominational divides.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

But it's important to note that he doesn't shy away from the more challenging aspects of Jesus teachings.

Speaker B:

Oh, of course not.

Speaker B:

Jesus didn't sugarcoat things.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So the book is divided into sections based on the seven messages from the Master, and they cover topics like love, forgiveness, service, judgment, the kingdom of God, the whole spectrum.

Speaker B:

So it's not just about the feel good stuff.

Speaker B:

It's about embracing the totality of Jesus message.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

The good, the bad, and the challenging.

Speaker A:

And that's where the real transformation happens.

Speaker A:

When we allow ourselves to be challenged by these teachings.

Speaker B:

It makes you wonder, how often do we turn to self help books or therapists when maybe the answers we're looking for are right there in the words of Jesus.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

What if we just ask, what did Jesus say when we're facing a dilemma?

Speaker B:

It's a radical idea in our modern world, but the testimonials suggest it might actually work.

Speaker B:

People talk about finding peace, strength, direction, all through immersing themselves in the words of Jesus.

Speaker A:

It's a testament to the power of those words, A power that transcends time and culture.

Speaker B:

And it's a message that Terry embodies in his own life, not just through his writing, but also through his actions.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

He's taken his ministry to Jamaica.

Speaker B:

Jamaica?

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

He counsels people online, helps those in need, works with local schools.

Speaker A:

He's really putting his faith into action.

Speaker B:

It's amazing how his life has come full circle.

Speaker B:

From a successful executive to a man who gave it all up for his faith, to a survivor who found healing, and now to someone who's dedicated to helping others.

Speaker A:

It's truly inspiring, isn't it?

Speaker A:

And it all stems from that simple question.

Speaker A:

What did Jesus say?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And it really makes you stop and think.

Speaker A:

You know, sometimes the most basic questions are the ones that lead us to those really deep answers.

Speaker B:

It's true.

Speaker B:

And that's what's so refreshing about Terry's approach.

Speaker B:

He's not trying to offer these, like, simple solutions or quick fixes for life's problems.

Speaker B:

He's just encouraging us to go to the source, to really engage with what Jesus said and let it resonate with us.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Like he's saying, look, we get caught up searching everywhere else, but when you really need guidance, go back to the teachings of Jesus.

Speaker A:

Let those words guide you.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

And he's not dictating how those words should be interpreted either.

Speaker B:

He's just putting them out there, no commentary, and allowing each person to discover their own meaning, their own connection to them.

Speaker A:

It shows a lot of faith.

Speaker A:

You know, faith in the power of Scripture itself, faith in the Holy Spirit, working through those words to impact each person in their own unique way.

Speaker B:

And it's so different from what we see in some parts of religion, right, where everything's so rigid, so dogmatic.

Speaker B:

Terry's message is one of openness, it's inclusive.

Speaker B:

It's about that personal revelation.

Speaker A:

He's not trying to get you to join a certain church or adopt a specific theology.

Speaker A:

He just wants to share the power of Jesus's teachings, how they can transform your life.

Speaker B:

And that's what's so appealing.

Speaker B:

I think it's non threatening.

Speaker B:

He's not judging you.

Speaker B:

It's a very personal approach.

Speaker B:

It's all about experiencing Jesus on your own terms, letting his words shape your life in a way that's authentic to you.

Speaker A:

It creates this welcoming space where it doesn't matter what your background is, what you believe, you can come explore your faith, ask questions and discover these profound truths that are hidden within Jesus.

Speaker B:

Words in a world that often feels so divided.

Speaker B:

It's a message of hope, a message of unity that we really, really need.

Speaker A:

So as we wrap up this deep dive into Terry's story, into his book, what did Jesus say?

Speaker A:

I think the big question for all of us listening is what are the words, the red letter words that speak to you the most?

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

What resonates with you on a deep level?

Speaker A:

And how can you take those teachings, make them part of your daily life?

Speaker B:

How can those words guide your actions, the choices you make, the way you interact with others?

Speaker A:

These are questions that are worth thinking about.

Speaker A:

Questions that can lead you to a more fulfilling life, a stronger connection to your faith, and a greater sense of purpose.

Speaker B:

That's beautifully said.

Speaker A:

Thanks for joining us on this journey exploring the life and work of Reverend Terry, a Christian.

Speaker B:

May his story inspire you to seek truth, embrace faith, and let the words of Jesus transform your life and maybe.

Speaker A:

Even inspire you to take your own life.

Speaker A:

Rock Spend some time reflecting on the teachings that resonate with you as you navigate your own path.

About your host

Profile picture for Robert Thibodeau

Robert Thibodeau

I am a 12 year Army veteran as both enlisted and as a commissioned Cavalry Officer.
I am now a retired law enforcement supervisor...

I had my own business for seven years before I entered law enforcement.

As a cop, I was injured on the job on May 12, 2007 and after several surgeries over a couple of years, forced to retire in 2011.

As I was looking down the road to “what am I going to do next?” I started what is now known as a podcast (I had no clue at the time).

Within six months of starting (what I called) “My online radio program” I was offered an opportunity to be on nationwide AM radio. I learned A LOT in one year of doing that!

I then started the online Christian radio platform "Evangelism Radio" in the fall of 2010. It has had listeners in 160+ nations and all 50 states. We host 50+ Christian broadcasters on a weekly basis. We have been operating 24/7 for almost 14 years now. We have been rated #1 in the world by Shoutcast. com on several occasions in our genre. We recently transferred ownership of Evangelism Radio to another ministry so I could concentrate full time on podcasting, preaching and writing.

In 2018, I started the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast to conduct interviews with Christian influencers from all walks of life and to play their interviews on the radio station. (The KCR Podcast has its own time slot on Evangelism Radio)!
We now have over 1600 episodes and almost 1100 interviews (in just over 6 years).

Looking out at the future of online Christian media, I noticed there was no viable platforms that catered only to the Christian podcast market.

In 2023, we launched a networking platform called, "FaithCasters" which connects "Great Christian podcasters with Great Christian Guests!" This helps to promote the work you do through podcast interviews! Check it out at https://FaithCaster.org

We recently launched "FaithCaster Academy" which serves as a training hub for ALL of our trainings (podcast training / speaker training / interview training, etc.). Members receive access to ALL of our training programs for one low, monthly membership fee. Members also receive FREE access to ALL of the LIVE trainings I conduct (1 or 2 per month) - while non-members have to pay to access the live trainings.

Between my podcast training program, conducting podcast interviews, appearing on other podcasts as guests, speaking at conferences (in person and virtually) and the podcast networking platform, I guess you could say “I’m all in” when it comes to podcasting and online media!

My total focus is to do all we can to assist you to “Get The Word Out” about your mission, services, products, ministry, books, business, etc.
